National Service Scheme (N.S.S.)
“Service before self” is the motto of the N.S.S. The Unit of our college attempts to ingrain this noble value among student volunteers. Projects on Literacy, Slum and Rural development, AIDS awareness, Child Labour, Problems of the Girl Child etc. have enabled our students to experience and feel first hand problems that confront our developing country. Volunteers are awarded 10 additional marks on project completion as per University norms. Our N.S.S. Unit has been repeatedly adjudged as the “Best Unit” by the University of Mumbai.

A skit on value education was held on 10th Sept 2011 by Swaday Parivar guided by Dinesh, Sanjay, Sampat and Dewang. Skit was based on current issue.

Shri Atul Vaze held workshop on creative thinking on 28th Sept 2011 puzzles were given to the students and training was given on how to boost ones thinking capacity.
National Cadet Corps. (N.C.C.)
This institution wishes to inculcate in our N.C.C. Cadets a healthy patriotic fervor fueled by unquestioned discipline and stamina. Most of our cadets have stood up to this motto and their excellent performance has resulted in their inclusion in many student-oriented programmes conducted by the Army, the Police force and the security services. Some of our students have participated in the Republic Day Parade held in New Delhi and Mountaineering and rock climbing and other activities. Our Unit has carved a niche in the University of Mumbai by achieving the Vice-Chancellor’s Banner–2004-05 & 2006-07 & 2007-08.

Cultural Forum
The Cultural Forum is a forum that organizes cultural programs and competitions for the students, by the students under the guidance of the faculty. “HOONER”, the collegiate and inter-collegiate annual festival is organized, planned and executed by the Cultural Forum. The Cultural Forum thus provides the students with a platform to develop organizational abilities and leadership skills.

Cultural Forum(Junior College)
The Inter – Collegiate competition held in various colleges are as follows:
1. Enigma of R.A.Podar college held on 18th, 19th and 20th August, 2017. The college got the overall trophy for second best performance. Mr. Hruturang was awarded to Brother Girish Chalke of Std XII Commerce.
2. Jallosh of Sydenham College held on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, 2017. The college got the overall trophy for the best performance.
3. Utkarsh of S.K. Somaiya held on 7th, 8th and 9th December, 2017. The college bagged the Best PR trophy and Sister Dhwani Chavan was declared Miss. Utkarsh 1st runner up.
4. Brouhaha of Sydenham College held from 12th to 16th December, 2017. . The college got the overall trophy for the best performance and Sister Swarali Bodas was awarded Miss. Brouhaha.
5. Springz of Nagindas Khandwala College held on 11th, 12th and 13th of January, 2017. The college got the overall trophy for the best performance and Sister Dhwani Chavan of XI ARTS bagged Miss. Springz title.
Manthan
Manthan a multi disciplinary study circle was formed in the year 1996-97 to provide a platform for students and teachers to discuss various topics of academic interest. Dr.U.R.Ananta Murthy, Jnanpeeth Award Winner and Chairman Sahitya Academy was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function.
Centre For Gandhian Studies
The Center for Gandhian studies was established in 2006 under the scheme of Epoch Making Social Thinkers. It was inaugurated by the noted historian Y.D.Phadke. It offers short-term certificate course in Gandhian Philosophy approved by University of Mumbai. The Centre organizes seminars, competitions & field visits and has a well-equipped library.

Gyan Yagna
Since 1994 Dr. Sudha Vyas had organized Gyan Yagna for full January month every year with Somaiya Sahitya Gurjari. In that many cultural, educational and literary programs were performed.
Somaiya Sahitya Gurjari and Somaiya Kuttchi Academy
These Associations started in 1998 essentially for the promotion of Gujarati and Kuttchi Language for the benefit of students at the Somaiya Vidyavihar Campus. It organizes Cultural and Literary programmes for the students belonging to Gujarati and Kuttchi community.
