  • What are the subjects combinations available at the Jr.College level?

    • Compulsory subjects for Commerce Stream are-English, E.V.S, Economics, O.C, B.K,
    • Optional Subjects in Commerce: Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Japanese ,Sanskrit,Maths/IT,S.P/IT
    • Compulsory subjects for Arts Stream are- English, Sanskrit, E.V.S.

  • What importance is given to Extra-curricular activities and how are they conducted?

    The Junior College has a Cultural Forum- a committee which conducts various extra curricular activities. There are also language association like English Athenaeum, Marathi Prabodhan, Hindi Parisabha and Gujarati Sahitya Mandal.

  • Is any special facility available for students interested in sports?

    Definitely the sports director is in charge. Students can participate in matches of a sport of their choice. A Gymkhana is also available for students. Different games like carom, Table tennis can play.

  • Which stream of study would be more useful for later professional studies?

    Both Arts and Commerce offer enough scope for later professional studies. Choose a course according to the profession you have in mind.

  • How is the Canteen facility in the College?

    There are almost 5 canteens in the Somaiya Campus where food is available at subsidized rates.

  • How helpful are the non-teaching staffs?

    Each floor has a floor peon who is responsible for maintaining discipline as well as catering to the needs of the students. The office staff in the ground floor office have been allotted their respective duties to help the students, like railways concessions, freeship forms etc.

  • How are requirement of the I.T students catered to?

    A well equipped I.T lab with efficient teachers caters to the needs of the I.T students .The computers are also updated from time to time.

  • Are the teachers approachable enough to help the students?

    The college has a student counseling cell and the concerned teachers are always available.

  • What is the examination pattern at the Junior College level?

    For the 11th Std students there are usually 4 exams in a year

    2 unit tests of 50 marks each and 2 exams of 100 marks each.

    Oral exams of 20 marks are conducted for languages and Maths & IT before each exam.

    The 12th Std students have appeared for 100 marks exams, followed by the Board exam. Oral exams of 20 marks are conducted for languages and Maths & IT before each exam.

  • What kinds of books are available in the library and what is benefit provided for the students?

    The library is well stocked with books pertaining to the curriculum and fiction, magazines and periodicals students can use the books for reference in the library as well as for home issue.

  • Does the college provide internet facility for the students?

    Yes, the non IT students are allowed to use the internet facility in the library.

  • Is any special guidance and counseling provided for students appearing the HSC Board exams?

    Intensive coaching lectures are arranged every year, in which external experts are called to guide the students.

  • What is the action taken on the defaulters?

    Parents(of junior college) are informed and an undertaking is taken from them which gives total authority to the college to take suitable action in case of a continued pattern of remaining absent.

  • What is percentage of attendance required for a student (junior college) in an academic year?

    Students are required to necessarily have 75% attendance in each lecture in each item.
